In Audi-speak, “S” denotes sportier versions of its cars that are based on its regular models. The Audi S4 has more power and is faster than the A4 compact sedan from which it is derived, with all-wheel drive to give you added confidence. For 2014, selectable drive modes are now standard on all models.
The 2014 Audi S4 is a sports sedan that doesn’t shout about its performance. A smart sedan, it is similar to the regular Audi A4 in appearance, but the unique five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels, aluminum-look mirror caps, Platinum Gray grille surround, side sill extensions, xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights, and four exhaust pipes signify its potential. Opt for the available new-for-2014 Black Optic package that features high-gloss black exterior trim and adds 19-inch smoke-colored wheels if you want to stand out.
If you want a feature-packed compact sports sedan, the 2014 Audi S4 has lots of standard equipment. Available in a single Premium Plus trim, standard features include automatic wipers, heated eight-way power front seats, a sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, and Audi’s dash-mounted MMI® (Multi Media Interface) controller and 10-speaker sound system with satellite radio. Bluetooth® streaming audio connectivity is only available with the optional MMI® navigation system. An available Premium package adds a Bang and Olufsen® sound system, adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, and rear parking sensors.
Open the door to the 2014 Audi S4 and you’re met with a premium and luxurious interior. Designed to cocoon around the driver, upgrades include a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, leather sports seats, and gray-faced instruments. New in 2014, available layered aluminum/black wood decorative inlays lend the cabin an even more upmarket look. There’s also plenty of space for you and your passengers. With 35.2 inches of rear legroom, two adults will be fine for longer journeys even with the 12 cu-ft trunk full of cargo.
The 2014 Audi S4’s 3.0L supercharged six-cylinder engine packs a 333-hp punch with 325 lb-ft of torque. Zero to 60 takes just 4.9 seconds, so whether you’re stopping by the grocery store or cruising the highway, the S4 has plenty of performance. An EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg combined for the six-speed manual model on 18-inch wheels is respectable given the performance on offer.
The 2014 Audi S4 is fitted with the quattro® all-wheel drive system for improved traction and added confidence on slippery surfaces. This, coupled with sports-tuned suspension, makes the S4 a lot of fun to drive. An available rear sport differential actively distributes power between the rear wheels for superior cornering and acceleration when the roads get twisty.
