The 2023 Buick Envision is one of four SUV models offered by Buick, slotted between the entry-level Encore GX and the seven-passenger Enclave. The Envision features a premium interior with room for five passengers and a long list of standard equipment. After a significant refresh in 2021, the Envision remains primarily unchanged for the 2023 model year. Buick offers the Envision in three trim levels: Preferred, Essence, and the luxurious Avenir. All Envision variants come standard with front-wheel drive and are available with all-wheel drive. Powering the Envision is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Envision has much to offer, but the premium crossover faces some tough competition from the Genesis GV70, Mazda CX-50, Mercedes-Benz GLC, and Toyota Venza.
Interior: The Buick Envision has an attractive, roomy interior with a clean design. Adding to the premium vibe is an available 10.2-inch infotainment display nicely integrated into the dash and angled toward the driver for easier access. The gear selector has a unique push/pull design, but it works well and doesn’t take up much space. Overall, the ride is smooth and quiet, with very little wind or road noise invading the cabin.
Technology: With a bright and clear display, the Envision’s infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use, especially with hard controls for volume and tuning. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connect wirelessly for added convenience. Envision comes with the latest advanced driver-assist features, including adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance that is well tuned and operates smoothly.
Performance: With 228 horsepower on tap, the Buick Envision feels quick off the line with a responsive throttle that delivers a satisfying experience. While few owners will push this Buick crossover to its limits, handling is decent even if there is some body roll, and brakes are solid with short stopping distances.
Utility: While the Envision can carry five passengers comfortably, the crossover doesn’t offer much utility. The 25.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row is less than what many competitors provide, and towing capacity is limited to just 1,500 pounds.
RepairPal gave the Buick Envision an overall reliability rating of 5 out of 5 stars, which RepairPal describes as Excellent. This rating ranks Buick Envision 1st out of 32 among Midsize SUVs.
