It's a great time to be a truck fan because the 2022 Silverado 1500 has a variety of potent engine options to choose from. These include a turbocharged 2.7L four-cylinder (310 hp, 30 lb-ft of torque), a 5.3L V8 (355 hp, 383 lb-ft), an even larger 6.2L V8 (420 hp, 460 lb-ftv), and even a turbo 3.0L six-cylinder diesel engine (277 hp, 460 lb-ft). So, no matter what your truck requirements look like, the 2022 Silverado 1500 has you covered, and then some.
The 2022 model year is part of the fourth generation of the Silverado 1500 that was introduced in 2019. Since then, Chevrolet has been continually updating and adding even more great trims. You can find nine trim levels to choose from starting with the Work Truck (WT), and moving up to the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, LTZ, and the top-spec High Country. From something basic up to luxury level, you're bound to find exactly the right 2022 Silverado 1500 configuration for you.
You have four engines and nine trim levels to choose from, plus, Chevy didn't skimp on the technology integration for the 2022 Silverado 1500. While the base Work Truck may only have a seven-inch touchscreen, it does have Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. Jump up one spot to the Custom and that upgrades you to wireless integration so you can quickly sync on the go. The LT trim (and above) ups the ante to a huge 13.4-inch diagonal color touch-screen display and adds additional Google® built-in compatibility. The top-spec High Country has a built-in navigation system and even a Bose® premium audio system.
Whether your weekend consists of towing a boat to the lake, a car to the track, or an RV out into the woods, the 2022 Silverado 1500 has power it where it counts. Even the base 2.7L engine has an estimated max conventional trailering weight rating of 9,500 pounds while both the 6.2L V8 and the turbodiesel ramp that all the way up to an estimated 13,300 pounds, when properly equipped.
Want to do a little off-roading? For starters, every engine can be optioned with 4x4 capability so you can reach that off-grid camping spot. The Custom Trail Boss has the cool Z71 off-road suspension, including monotube shocks, hill descent control, skid plates, and more. To really ramp up your off-road game, though, you have to take a look at the super-cool ZR2 trim level. Not only does it come with the largest engine (6.2L V8) to help you blast through the mud, but it also has Multimatic DSSV™ dampers, upgraded off-road chassis and suspension, front and rear electronic locking differentials, larger skid plates, and an enhanced Terrain mode capability. No matter your destination, the 2022 Silverado 1500 can get you there.
