This sedan exudes powertrain confidence. As standard, the SE, SEL and Limited trims are powered by the base engine but it's no slouch. This 288-horsepower 3.5L V6 engine is paired with standard FWD and a six-speed automatic transmission—look out for the trims with optional AWD if you fancy a little more grip in wet weather. While that's plenty for most, the 2018 Taurus does have one more exciting option. The range-topping Taurus SHO runs on a twin-turbo 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 with a sport-tuned suspension and paddle shifters.
The 2018 Taurus is very classy looking, most noticeable in its luxuriously appointed interior. The cloth or leather upholstery comes in shades of classic tan or black, while the swooping center console lends an intimate feel to the front row. The 2018 Taurus has plenty of date-night credentials. The Limited and SHO trims have seven shades of ambient interior lighting to set the mood, and a Sony® audio system equipped with Clear Phase™ and Live Acoustics™ technology.
In addition to those regular highway commutes—if you love stunning coastal drives or tracing your way around the lakes on vacation—the 2018 Taurus is up to the task. Deep bends are managed by standard Curve Control; if you're taking them too fast, the system sensors can slow the maneuver to maintain control. Torque Vectoring Control is also standard, applying some modest braking force to the inside front wheel, to keep you planted yet agile on corners.
Hooking up the in-car audio to your favorite playlists, staying connected to friends via voice-command-enabled calling, and finding the best route to avoid congestion—it's all possible with the 2018 Taurus' available SYNC® 3 infotainment system. Controlled through the eight-inch touchscreen, SYNC® 3 adds Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibility as standard, with the option to add voice-activated navigation and SYNC AppLink™ features such as Spotify® compatibility too.
You don't always need an SUV to get the cargo space you want. The 2018 Taurus always keeps it classy and still delivers on a ginormous trunk, more than suitable for your cargo needs. Open the lid and you've got 20.1 cu-ft of storage, enough for everyone to bring a weekend bag or two, with room for shopping trips too. The 60/40 split-fold rear seat can also be flipped down to reveal space for longer items, such as golf clubs or hiking poles.
