If you’re looking for a versatile, agile vehicle for commuting and whatever the weekend may bring, you’ll appreciate the 2015 Honda Fit. Redesigned for 2015, the Fit offers seating for five passengers with plenty of cargo room when you fold the 60/40-split rear seats. The base LX comes with full power accessories and Bluetooth® audio and phone connectivity. If you’re looking for more, the EX level adds tech like a 7-inch touchscreen interface and Honda’s LaneWatch™ blind-spot display. The EX-L adds leather upholstery and heated front seats. If you need a built-in navigation system, the EX-L Navi is the one.
For 2015, the Fit got upgrades inside and out. A suspension redesign freed up room for rear-seat passengers so even six-foot-plus adults feel comfortable with 37.5 inches of headroom. Slide your hand along the door panels, and you’ll feel the plush interior materials. Upgraded technology comes standard on the entry-level trim, and there’s more to come with the higher trim levels. Outside, the wedge styling continues from earlier models, and a new grille and headlight design flatters the Fit’s appeal.
You’ll find the Fit can do many things well, with flexible configurations for interior seating and cargo. You’ll get 53 cu-ft of cargo space with the seats folded down. Plus, the passenger seat folds flat to swallow items nearly eight feet long. The roomy rear passenger cabin has 39.3. inches of legroom. It’s comfortable for two adults and easily accommodates child seats. While it’s a subcompact, the Fit offers the useability of a much bigger car.
Sure, lots of compact cars have folding rear seats. But the Honda Fit has the Magic Seat. The rear seat can fold completely flat, but the magic happens when you fold the seat bottoms vertically. That leaves a floor-to-ceiling space to stow large items like bicycles, antiquing finds, or large pets.
Concerned with the power you’ll get from a compact car? Honda has tweaked the 1.5L four-cylinder engine to help the Fit generate 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. You’ll spend less time stopping for gas, too. A Fit equipped with the manual transmission returns an EPA-estimated 32 mpg combined.
If you’re a hands-on driver, a six-speed manual transmission is standard on LX and EX models. The suspension upgrades make the car more composed and quieter, so longer trips are not fatiguing. The available CVT transmission offers snappy downshifts for quick acceleration. The Fit could make your morning commute less of a slog.
