On the 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe, Jeep has doubled down on its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) redesign with new trims and a slate of upgrades. For 2023, there's a new 30th-anniversary edition trim, which commemorates three decades since the first Grand Cherokee debuted. With four additional trims on offer (Base, Overland, Trailhawk, Summit), the 2022 Cherokee 4xe can be outfitted with a suite of driver aids, towing and cargo upgrades, and styled finishes. If you see flair and practicality as essential, the 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe delivers both.
What does it take to get a 5,664-lb hunk of SUV to go from zero-to-60 in 5.3 seconds? Under the hood of the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, you'll find a 2.0L 16-valve four-cylinder gasoline engine tied to two AC motors powered by a 14-kWh lithium-ion battery that, combined, make up a hybrid 375-horsepower powertrain with 470 lb-ft of torque. Not too shabby.
As a plug-in electric vehicle (PHEV), the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is designed with electric and gasoline technology that collaborate to balance performance. When fully charged and topped up with a full tank, the SUV can travel about 440 miles until you'll need a charge and pump. While in electric-only mode, the Cherokee 4xe can travel an EPA-estimated 26 miles, when fully charged.
The PHEV powertrain on the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe comes standard on all five trims available. On the base trim, you'll find rear sunshades, an Alpine® sound system, smart key, and navigation as standard equipment. On the Trailhawk trim, a panoramic sunroof, rearview camera, and navigation system are also standard. Finally, the Overland trim sees the biggest upgrades, with A/C, side airbags, automated cruise control, and alloy wheels as standard equipment.
For any SUV that's meant for long-haul adventures, state-of-the-art technology and comfort are a must. On the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, you'll enjoy a bigger 10.1-inch touchscreen, equipped on Overland and Trailhawk trims. There's also a DVD video system and backseat charge-only USB ports available on select trims to keep the kids occupied.
As a midsized SUV, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe also sports room for all your needs inside. There are five seats, with 38.2 inches of legroom in the back. In the rear, you'll find 37.7 cu-ft of trunk space with the seats in place, which jumps to 70.8 cu-ft with all the backseats folded. The trunk also comes standard with a power hatch and deck lid, which makes loading and stowing that precious cargo easy and secure.
