2017 Land Rover Range Rover review

1. Powerful engine lineup 

With a choice of five engines available, there’s definitely a powerplant ideally suited for you. Even the base supercharged V6 produces a stout 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. For more frugal performance, try the turbodiesel V6 available on standard and HSE models, producing 254 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque while also achieving an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined.

2. Spacious cabin and trunk 

Step inside the 2017 Range Rover, and you’ll enjoy a supremely roomy interior with space for everyone and their luggage. There’s seating for up to five passengers, and front-seat legroom is 42.5 inches on all models. Rear seat legroom is 40.2 inches on standard short-wheelbase models, but if you select a long wheelbase model, that extends to 47.5 inches. Regardless of model, you get 32.1 cu-ft of cargo volume in the trunk. 

3. Array of features and available trims 

The 2017 Range Rover offers a stacked feature list across five trim levels, meaning there’s guaranteed to be one ideally equipped for you and your lifestyle. Even base models get impressive creature comforts, like grained leather seats, tri-zone climate control, and the Land Rover InControl Touch Pro infotainment system with 10.2-inch touchscreen. For maximum luxury, the Autobiography trim is the ideal choice, with a 29-speaker Meridian^™ sound system, four-zone climate control, and front and rear climate seats. 

4. Capable off-road handling 

For when you turn off the highway and head off-road, the 2017 Range Rover has all the tools you’ll need for tackling journeys off the beaten track. All-wheel-drive is standard on all models, along with the Terrain Response^® system, hill descent control and a two-speed transfer case. Supercharged models up the ante with the upgraded Terrain Response 2^® system and All-Terrain Progress Control, while the Autobiography trim rounds things off with an active locking rear differential.  

5. Driver convenience tech 

To make driving the 2017 Range Rover as relaxing as possible, it also comes with a swathe of included driver convenience technologies for you to make use of. Standard models start off with a rear-view camera and lane departure warning, and once again the Autobiography gets the maximum selection of tech features. These include a surround-view camera system (to help with parking), adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
