The Lexus GX 460 features a new face for 2020 that makes it look fresher, and updates to the interior features and technology create a deluxe-feeling cabin. The GX 460 keeps its seven-seat capacity and its impressive off-road and towing capabilities, remaining an accommodating midsize SUV.
1. Upmarket looks
Imposing and grand in scale, Lexus freshened up the GX 460 for 2020 with triple-beam LED headlights and a new spindle-design front grille. The addition of Atomic Silver to the restrained color palette adds to the upmarket appearance. If that’s a little too subdued for you, choose Starfire Pearl White, Claret Mica, or the Fire Agate Pearl finish if you want to make a classy entrance.
The cabin of the 2020 GX 460 has modern technology to satisfy whoever you have onboard. The controls are laid out around a center stack with big buttons, and the eight-inch color touchscreen is used to move around the infotainment system. Bluetooth® connectivity is standard on all GX trims, along with the Lexus Enform suite of connected services that allow available features such as remote starting of the engine using your smartphone.
Seven-seat flexibility makes the GX 460 an accommodating companion no matter who you’re driving with. If you’re off to the hardware store, or packing for a wilderness weekend, the versatility of the GX 460 has you covered. The third-row seats can be electrically folded away on the Luxury trim to give 46.7 cu-ft of cargo space. When the second and third rows are folded, there is 64.7 cu-ft of room to play with. Available second-row captain’s chairs add more comfort.
When you take off on those off-piste trips, the standard 4WD system of the GX 460 will leave you feeling reassured. Ready for the rough, stabilizer bars are automatically adjusted to vary the degree of roll stiffness and wheel articulation depending on the surface. The available Off-Road package has a Multi-Terrain Select driving mode program with settings to optimize drivability, and the available crawl control system automatically maintains a slow pace over challenging terrain.
Ready for hauling, choose the available tow ball mount, tow hitch receiver, and tow trailer ball and you’re all set to pull the trailer for a remote weekend adventure. The robust construction and 329 lb-ft of torque from the 4.6L V8 engine of the 2020 Lexus GX 460 allows it to tow an estimated 6,500 lbs, when properly equipped,
