The 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage is one of the most affordable vehicles on the market, and it competes with the Nissan Versa and Kia Rio in the ultra-economy hatchback category. Mitsubishi has been making the current generation of the Mirage since 2014 but updated the design in 2019.
For 2023, the biggest change is that Mitsubishi dropped the manual transmission and all Mirage models now come with a continuously variable automatic transmission as standard equipment.
What you need to know about the 2023 Mirage is that it’s designed to be affordable, so it’s not fast or exciting to drive. However, you do get current driver-assistance technology like forward collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and a seven-inch touchscreen display that supports Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. In the higher trim levels, the Mirage includes luxury features like heated seats and LED headlights.
Fuel economy: The Mirage hatchback returns EPA-estimated fuel economy of 36 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway, with 39 mpg expected in combined
Affordable: The Mirage is one of the most affordable cars on the market, so many buyers can choose a higher trim level than the base and get a few extra features while staying within a tight budget.
Ride quality: Inexpensive small cars like the Mirage generally have a low bar when it comes to comfort. However, the little Mitsubishi actually excels when it comes to ride quality, handily sailing over humps and bumps without disturbing the occupants.
Comfort: The 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage doesn’t have a lot of engine power, so it tends to work hard when you’re driving. It’s also loud inside the car, with lots of road and engine noise. Finally, the seats don’t provide much support, so it’s not generally comfortable.
