In a bit of a surprise, the 2022 Nissan Rogue gets a new, more powerful powertrain just a year after a full redesign. Overall the Rogue does a good job at all the things buyers of a small SUV are likely to be looking for. There’s plenty of space for starters, both for passengers and in the trunk, making it a versatile family SUV. If there was a weak area, it was with the powertrain, which proved adequate rather than exciting. The new turbocharged three-cylinder engine, though, delivers 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque and is paired to a new CVT. EPA-estimated fuel economy for a base front-wheel-drive model is an attractive 33 mpg combined, an 3 mpg increase over the 2021.
Also for 2022, there's some new badging thanks to Nissan's new logo and a few minor changes to the standard equipment level on the upper trim choices. The Rogue still comes standard with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive offered as an option across the board. Equipment is generous—all trims come with alloy wheels and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration accessed via an 8-inch touchscreen. Top-level models are positively luxurious in their features, and every Rogue comes with Nissan’s driver aids, bundled under the Safety Shield name, making for an appealing all-round proposition.

The refreshed Nissan Rogue comes with a new-for-2022 engine as standard across the range, and it's a game changer. A 1.5L turbocharged three-cylinder engine might sound small for a midsize SUV, but with Nissan's Variable Compression Turbo (VC-Turbo®) technology, you'll get 201 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. That's more than enough to handle city streets and highways with ease while still achieving an EPA-estimated 33 mpg combined when paired with the standard continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive.
From the base model up to the premium trim levels, the 2022 Nissan Rogue has a lengthy feature list. The base S trim includes alloy wheels, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ functionality, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and LED headlights. The mid-range SV and SL trims have their own additional Premium packages, including features such as a panoramic sunroof and roof rails on SV Premium trims, and a nine-inch touchscreen display and voice controls on SL Premium trims. The top-line Platinum model adds extra sophistication with a digital instrument panel, upgraded leather upholstery, and heated rear seats with a remote seat release lever to help you fold down the rear seats. It's easy to find a 2022 Nissan Rogue model that fits your lifestyle.
The 2022 Nissan Rogue offers a suite of driver assistance features as standard across the range, including forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a rear passenger safe-exit system. SL Premium models add front and rear parking sensors and navigation-system-linked adaptive cruise control. For ease of use and peace of mind on the road, the 2022 Nissan Rogue has you covered.
Not only is the 2022 Nissan Rogue a pleasure to drive, but it's also a pleasure for passengers. There's seating for up to five people inside; 41.5 inches of front-seat legroom and 38.5 inches of rear-seat legroom give everyone plenty of space to stretch out. Are you taking the kids with you? With a total of five LATCH connectors across the rear seats, you can utilize up to three child safety seats. And with available features like synthetic and genuine leather upholstery, dual and tri-zone automatic climate control, and heated front and rear seats, your passengers will enjoy every mile traveled in the 2022 Nissan Rogue.
There's no shortage of cargo space in the 2022 Nissan Rogue. With 36.5 cu-ft of luggage volume behind the rear seats, you'll have more than enough room for even the most generous grocery shopping trip. If you need more storage space, just fold down the 60/40 split-folding rear seats to increase volume to 74.1 cu-ft. With rear doors designed to open extra wide and an available power liftgate on SV Premium trims, the 2022 Nissan Rogue can easily fit all your luggage.
