The 2019 Porsche 718 Cayman continues to capture hearts with no significant changes from the 2018 model. This sports car is a dream for driving purists, offering precision handling and a suite of exciting trims and performance options. Even though it's Porsche’s entry-level offering, the 718 Cayman is anything but ordinary.
Starting with a 2.0L flat-four engine producing 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, the base Cayman offers ample power for your daily sports car needs. The Cayman S, however, steps it up with a 2.5L turbocharged engine with 350 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque. The GTS trim pushes this even further to 365 horsepower. No matter which you choose, you'll take every chance you can to drive your Cayman.
The base 718 Cayman is engineered for peak performance. The Cayman GTS variant elevates this with a sport exhaust system featuring black tailpipes, a brake-based differential, and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). PASM includes adaptive dampers and lowers the car by 10 mm, enhancing handling and stability in turns.
The 718 Cayman includes options that heighten its sporty character. Notably, the Sport Chrono package, standard on the GTS, features a dashboard stopwatch, launch control (with automatic transmissions), and a Sport button that temporarily sharpens performance. These features add an extra edge to the Cayman's sporty credentials.
Despite being a lightweight sports car, the 2019 Cayman offers impressive cargo space, thanks to its mid-engine layout. There's a 5.3-cu-ft front trunk plus a 4.4-cu-ft storage area in the rear, which is useful for personal items and smaller bags. While you might not be able to carry large items, you’ve still got enough to make this a practical daily driver.
Inside, the 2019 Cayman showcases Porsche's meticulous attention to detail. The interior focuses on the driving experience, with multi-way adjustable seats and partial leather upholstery. The GTS model adds a faux-suede steering wheel, enhancing the feel of luxury. Standard features include Bluetooth® connectivity and a seven-inch touchscreen.
