First introduced in 2014, the Ram Promaster 2500 has become a flagship cargo van, inside and out. Built on a light, narrow frame, the 2019 model of the Promaster 2500 is offered in two trims, with a muscular six-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive to improve loading, hauling, and handling. Whatever kind of commercial business or camper enthusiast you may be, the Ram Promaster 2500 is adaptable to your needs.
1. Front-wheel drive
All-wheel drive is not always better. The reason Ram opted to fit the 2019 Promaster 2500 with front-wheel drive came down to functionality: With the front wheels in control, Ram was able to lower the Promaster's overall frame. That means an easier step-in height for loading and unloading, which is of course the main activity you'll likely be using the Promaster for.
The main event of the Promaster 2500 is the cargo hull. The box-shaped hull comes in a number of varieties, depending on the wheelbase and roof height. At the low end, with the short wheelbase (136 inches) and standard roof height (66 inches), the Promaster 2500 provides 303.7 cu-ft of cargo space. At the high end, with a wide wheelbase (159 inches) and high roof (77 inches), you'll substantially increase cargo space to 420 cu-ft. One important consideration is that the smaller model can actually handle a slightly higher payload of an estimated 4,260 lbs when properly equipped.
There's one engine configuration on the 2019 Ram Promaster 2500, and it's muscular. The 280-hp 3.6L V6 engine has a six-speed automatic transmission. That kind of power offers 260 lb-ft of torque and can help you tow an estimated 5,100 lbs, when properly equipped.
There's standard seating for two on the 2019 Promaster 2500. But Ram makes it possible for other seating arrangements, so keep a lookout. Certain models include a two-passenger bench seat, a driver’s suspension seat, or front swivel seats, which may feature woven cloth upholstery, six-way adjustability, or manual lumbar support.
New on the 2019 model of the Promaster 2500 are a number of intuitive perks. Remote start, rear A/C, and a full roof rack are all optional features.
