Interior details

The 2022 Toyota Prius comes standard with seating for five people, and the rear seat has 33.4 inches of legroom. The Prius shines with cargo space, with 24.7 cu-ft available. The L Eco and LE trims have three USB ports, while the XLE trim adds wireless charging. That trim marks the transition from cloth to synthetic leather seats. The Nightshade edition adds chrome interior accents.

Child seat details

The Toyota Prius has two sets of LATCH anchors, on the rear outboard seats. All three seats in the back have rear car seat tethers. However, you won't be able to fit three car seats side-by-side in the Prius. With 37.4 inches of headroom, the Toyota Prius will be able to accommodate rear-facing car seats without the driver and front passenger feeling cramped.

Performance

The 2022 Toyota Prius is not a performance-orientated vehicle. All models have 121-hp, produced from a 1.8L four-cylinder engine and electric motors. They have a top speed of 101 mph, and go zero to 60 in about 10.3 seconds. The 2022 Toyota Prius with front-wheel drive has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 52 miles-per-gallon combined.

Year comparison

2009–2015 Toyota Prius (Third Generation)

The third-generation Prius came standard with a 134-hp motor. It was only available in front-wheel drive but offered plenty of passenger and cargo space. The base of the 2015 model had plenty of features, including a touchscreen and Bluetooth® connectivity.

2016–present Toyota Prius (Fourth Generation)

The fourth-generation Prius comes standard with a 121-hp motor and heaps of cargo space. At first, this generation only offered front-wheel drive, but a 2019 refresh introduced all-wheel drive as an available option. In subsequent years more tech and driver-assist features became standard.
