Upscale SUV with great balance

The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg is an intriguing SUV. It has an upscale cabin with great materials and standard features, such as dual-zone climate, adaptive front lighting, 18-inch wheels, leatherette seating, a touchscreen audio system, and more. Plus, the features only improve as you climb into higher trim levels. On top of this, the Touareg also performs quite well in straight-line acceleration and cornering, adding a sporty element. But it is also very capable, with an estimated 7,716-pound towing capacity with the 3.6L V6 engine when properly equipped. Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories. So, if you want luxury, performance, and utility, the Touareg is certainly a worthy option.

5 reasons to buy the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg

1. Potent engines

The 2015 Touareg has several powertrain options to please your performance-craving side. Its standard 3.6L V6 engine pumps out 280 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, giving it plenty of power. However, the true power comes from an unexpected source: the Touareg’s hybrid powertrain. This hybrid setup pairs a supercharged 3.0L V6 with an electric motor to deliver 380 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. It’s not quite sports-car fast, but you’ll appreciate how the Touareg Hybrid moves with its 5.8-second sprint to 60 mph.

2. Great diesel option

The 2015 Volkswagen Toureg has another engine option slotted between the 3.6L V6 and hybrid. This 3.0L turbodiesel V6 engine delivers 240 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. This adds up to a 7.2-second zero-to-60 sprint time. This diesel model will continue to impress you with its EPA-estimated 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

3. Surprisingly nimble

The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg is not a small crossover, so it will surprise you how well it handles the corners. The Touareg is no performance SUV, but despite its larger footprint, it never feels unwieldy in the corners. Plus, it’s incredibly responsive steering ensures it always goes right where you point it. This is one relatively mainstream SUV you’ll quickly fall in love with.

4. Great ride

Though the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg handles very well, it doesn’t sacrifice its composed ride. The Touareg never feels rough or noisy inside the cabin, thanks to its well-tuned suspension and chassis working together to absorb the roughness and bumps in the road. The 2015 Touareg will make your daily commute relaxing and more pleasurable, even in the roughest conditions.

5. Quite the utility SUV, too

The 2015 Touareg may be comfortable and composed, but don’t let this fool you. This SUV is ready to put in some work, too. It’s not going to be crawling rocks anytime soon, but the 2015 Touareg’s suspension and all-wheel-drive system can easily take on light trail duty. Also, its strong construction and potent engines allow the Touareg to tow an estimated 7,716 pounds with the 3.6L V6 engine when properly equipped.

That means you can finally pick up that camping trailer you’ve always wanted.
