Every 2023 BMW X2 is outfitted with a capable 2.0L four-cylinder turbo at 228 hp, which is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can be had with either front-wheel drive (standard) or all-wheel drive (included on xDrive28i models). Regardless, this powertrain delivers motivated acceleration, even from a dead stop. Combine this with its tight handling and easy maneuverability, and it's easy to see how this small SUV packs such a big punch.
Don't let its compact size fool you. The 2023 BMW X2 is cleverly designed to accommodate up to five passengers without sacrificing comfort. Even passengers in the rear row will enjoy 36.7 inches of legroom, which makes it spacious enough for taller adults to stretch out. Meanwhile, standard dual-zone climate control and plush simulated leather upholstery make the cabin comfortable for everybody. Behind the rear row, you'll find 21.6 cu-ft of dedicated cargo space, along with plenty of bins and cubbies for additional storage of small items.
The 2023 X2 is offered in two trims: the sDrive28i and the xDrive28i. Even without upgrading to the range-topper or adding any package upgrades, you'll enjoy features such as a power liftgate, automatic dual-zone climate control, an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with built-in voice recognition and navigation, a robust 10-speaker sound system, and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay®. Additional packages, such as the Convenience package, add more features like ambient cabin lighting, a universal garage door opener, and auto-dimming mirrors.
The 2023 X2 doesn't skimp on driver-assistance features, either. Its base trim comes with front and rear sensors to assist with parking, forward-collision mitigation, and lane-departure warning. If you want extras like adaptive cruise control or an innovative automated parking system, these are also available as add-ons to both the sDrive28i and xDrive28i trims.
Despite its motivated engine, the 2023 BMW X2 manages to get excellent fuel economy for a vehicle in its class. While many factors can affect fuel economy, the 2023 X2 base sDrive28i with turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine, eight-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive gets an EPA-estimated 27 mpg combined.
