The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe is a large SUV that’s great for families or big groups who need the practicality of three rows. It remains mostly unchanged for 2024 and is part of the fifth generation, which was introduced in 2021. It can seat up to nine (with the optional front bench seat) and is offered in six trim levels, though the base trim is anything but basic.
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe comes standard with seating for eight but the available front bench seat on the base LS model boosts seating to nine. All models from the Premier trim onward come with seating for seven thanks to the second-row bucket seats. The back is spacious enough for adults with 34.9 inches of legroom, but tall passengers will prefer to stretch out in the front or middle row with 44.5 and 42 inches, respectively.
The base engine is a 355-hp 5.3L V8, which is plenty for most people. If you want more, look out for the available 420-hp 6.2L V8. There’s also an optional 3.0L turbodiesel with 277 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque — this is the best option if fuel economy is a priority. Rear-wheel drive models with this engine get an EPA-estimated 24 mpg combined.
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe has plenty of driver-assistance tech. As standard, you’ll get parking sensors, lane departure mitigation, and forward collision mitigation. The Premier trim adds blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. If you want the most high-tech driving experience possible, look for the Premier trim’s Advanced Technology package, which adds the Super Cruise hand-free semi-automated driving system alongside adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, and a head-up display.
With such a large SUV, you have a practical and versatile companion for daily errands and family adventures. There’s plenty of room for cargo, even with a full house — behind the third row you’ll get 25.5 cu-ft of space. If you need to carry more, there’s 72.6 cu-ft behind the second row and 122.9 cu-ft with all seats folded. The available power-folding rear seats and hands-free liftgate make loading up easier than ever.
The LS base trim and its 5.3L V8 give you plenty of pulling power for trips where you need to haul a trailer or camper. It’s capable of towing an estimated 8,400 lbs in RWD configuration when properly equipped.
