The Lincoln Corsair was introduced for the 2020 model year when it replaced the aging MKC, and it remains the least expensive route into the Lincoln lineup. A five-passenger luxury crossover SUV, the Corsair is primarily unchanged for the 2021 model year except for the addition of a new plug-in hybrid powertrain. It's exclusively on the top-level Grand Touring trim, which comes standard with all-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional on all other Corsair trims. While it may be an entry-level compact crossover SUV, the Corsair offers all the luxury and style expected of a Lincoln. The Corsair is easily recognizable as a Lincoln with its familiar signature grille and exterior design that fits with the rest of the luxury brand’s SUV lineup. In addition to the plug-in hybrid powertrain, Lincoln offers the Corsair with a 295-horsepower turbocharged engine, providing much more refined power delivery than the base powertrain. With a quiet cabin and luxury surroundings, the Corsair competes favorably against vehicles like the Acura RDX and Volvo XC60.
Interior: The Corsair provides a comfortable ride with the available adaptive suspension, and engine noise is practically nonexistent. Upscale materials provide the level of luxury expected of a Lincoln, and the available Active Noise Control keeps the cabin quiet and comfortable. The new transmission selector is integrated into the dash, which makes it easy to use and takes up very little interior space. Front seats are comfortable with available soft leather trim and 24-way Perfect Position seats, although rear seats may be a bit cramped for taller adults.
Technology: The Corsair is available with multiple USB ports—both USB-A and USB-C—as well as a wireless phone charger and a standard 110 power outlet. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration is standard and works well with the available 8-inch touchscreen display. Lincoln also offers the ability to set up a smartphone to use as the key to the vehicle.
Value: The Corsair’s low starting price with its long list of standard features makes it a great value, especially when going head-to-head with the competition. Opting for the more powerful 2.3-liter engine or moving up to the Corsair Grand Touring can quickly increase the base price. However, the Corsair still remains competitive in this crowded luxury crossover market.
Storage: With 27.6 cubic feet of cargo space, the Corsair offers a reasonable cargo-carrying capacity, but the built-in cargo cover can make loading difficult. Rear seats can be slid forward for additional space or folded flat to expand to 57.6 cubic feet. Numerous storage pockets can be found throughout the cabin, but they tend to be on the small side, limiting their usefulness.
