The high-tech design of today's heavy-duty trucks allows them to work both harder and smarter. The 2021 Ford F-350 Super Duty proves this point with the latest in drivetrain technology, offering a standard 6.2-liter V8 engine mated to an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. If the 6.2-liter isn't sufficient, a 7.3-liter V8 or a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8, both with even higher payload and towing capacities, are available. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the F-350, but four-wheel drive is available while a Tremor package adds elevated ride height, off-road tires, a locking rear differential, and underbody skid plates.
New F-350 features for 2021 include adaptive steering on higher trim levels and a retractable bed step to ease bed access. Cab configurations range from regular cab to extended cab to crew cab, and the trim lineup is XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.
Ford continues to enhance the F-350's maximum capabilities, with the 2021 model featuring a max payload rated at 7,850 pounds and max towing well over 20,000 pounds. Various factors may impact towing capacity, including weight of passengers, cargo, and options/accessories.
Capability: Now rated at up to 7,850 pounds of payload capacity, and 24,200 pounds of towing capacity,
Interior: With a roomy interior and a host of standard and available convenience features the F-350 can be outfitted for everything from construction work sites to long-distance family road trips. The upscale trims, including the King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited, incorporate everything from plush leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated seats to Ford's advanced SYNC® 3 infotainment system as standard equipment.
Efficiency: Pairing a diesel V8 with a 10-speed automatic improves both performance and efficiency for the F-350 Super Duty. The truck's lightweight aluminum body panels add yet another high-tech solution to saving gas, illustrating Ford's commitment to reducing fuel consumption and owner operating costs, even in its heavy-duty line of trucks.
Maneuverability: Buying a heavy-duty truck means navigating a heavy-duty truck, which can get dicey when driving in-town. Ford offers some high-tech features to compensate, including a surround-view camera and the Pro Trailer Backup Assist package. This combination, plus available blind-spot warning, makes urban driving and trailer hookups much easier.
