Versatile cargo van debut

Ford welcomes the 2015 Ford Transit 150 to its cargo van lineup this year. This newcomer exudes versatility as a potential fleet vehicle for businesses, a mobile workstation for contractors, or an adventure ride for van life campers. Seating for two (at the front) comes standard but how you use it beyond that is up to you. As you browse this ride, take note of the many options: technology, driver assist features, and height/length configurations to find the best fit for you.

5 reasons to buy the 2015 Ford Transit 150

1. Many body configurations possible

This van comes in one trim with many options to help you find the perfect height and length for your driving needs. The 2015 Ford Transit 150 features two wheelbase options, 129.9 inches standard and an extended 147.6 inches. The extended wheelbase can accommodate an extended-body length to haul long lumber or building supplies better. You'll also discover three roof heights: Low measuring at 83.6 inches (cargo height 56.9 inches); Medium measuring at 100.8 inches (cargo height 72 inches); and High measuring at 110.0 inches (cargo height 81.5 inches). With the High option, a person 6.5' tall could stand or work in the rear space without their head touching the interior cabin roof. Cargo volumes vary based on wheelbase, length, and roof height selected.

2. Ready for work or pleasure

The 2015 Ford Transit 150 cargo van offers versatility. The obvious uses include a daily work van for professions such as plumbing, electrical, lawn care, mobile pet grooming, and more. However, this ride could easily transform into a small camper with space for a bed/table combo and storage bins if you're handy and imaginative. If you have extra time, the 2015 Ford Transit 150 can also morph into a passenger van to accommodate a large family or become a sports team hauler.

3. Comfortable driver's space

Slip into the 2015 Ford Transit 150 and you'll quickly discover the open, spacious front area for the driver and a front-seat passenger. Enjoy wide and clear visibility out the front windows, a tall center console, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel,  well-constructed front seats for support, and a responsive steering system that feels more like driving a pick-up truck than a bulky van. Long work or travel days just got easier!

4. Two engine options

The 2015 Ford Transit 150 comes with two engine choices. The base model is a 3.7L V6 cranking out 275 hp and 260lb-ft of torque. There's also a more robust turbo-powered 3.5L V6 with 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque that will work best if you travel hilly roads with heavy cargo often. Both engines pair with a six-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to payload and towing, numbers will vary based on the van configuration, weight of your cargo, and engine choice. Towing with the base engine, standard wheelbase, and low roof is an estimated 4,700 lbs when properly equipped.

5. Well-appointed cabin

You may envision a cargo van without many bells and whistles, but the 2015 Ford Transit 150 makes your drive time pleasurable. Standard features include full power accessories, front cabin air conditioning, and cargo tie-down loops in the rear. Optional upgrades include long-arm exterior mirrors, a rearview camera to make it easier to see around the van, cruise control, rear parking sensors, air conditioning in the rear of the vehicle, a spray-in liner for the cargo hold, a navigation system to help find addresses, and a six-inch touchscreen display.
