5 reasons to buy the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A220

1. Upscale interior

Just because it's a compact car doesn't mean Mercedes-Benz has skimped on upscale touches. The 2019 A220 has a quiet interior and all the luxury appointments you would expect from a Mercedes, including standard simulated leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and power-adjustable front seats with memory. The luxury-focused options list is extensive and includes upgraded leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, massaging front seats, a heated steering wheel, and interior ambient lighting.

2. Surprisingly practical

What is great is that you can opt for a fun-to-drive compact luxury sedan and still have the option to tackle life's daily chores. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A220 has seating for five, 8.6 cu-ft of trunk space, and it also has 40/20/40-split folding rear seats. That means you can bring home longer objects when you're out running errands. So this compact sedan might just be the practical daily you're looking for.

3. Great tech

These days the average car is packed full of technology, so you would expect that the 2019 A220 would be no different. You would be right, the A220 has a seven-inch digital instrument panel paired with a seven-inch central touchscreen, both standard. It's all controlled by Mercedes' MBUX® (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system with standard Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto connectivity to help you connect your favorite device. If you want an even larger viewing area to control your A220, a pair of 10.3-inch screens are available as part of the Premium package.

4. Turbo power

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz A220 gets a standard turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine putting out a stout 188 horsepower on all trim levels. It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and you can also opt for Mercedes' 4Matic® all-wheel-drive system as well. The AWD version of the A220 can hit 60 mph in a brief 6.2 seconds (according to the manufacturer, when new) and still get an EPA-estimated 28 mpg combined city/highway.

5. Latest driver aids

Even the base 2019 A220 delivers driver aids such as a frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a drowsy driver warning system, and of course, a rearview camera. There is a lot more available on the driver aid front though, keep an eye out for an A220 equipped with the Driver Assistance package. It adds great features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, evasive steering assist, cross-traffic collision mitigation, emergency-stop assist, active speed limit assist, route-based speed adaptation, and more.
