If you’re in the market for a sports car with a trunk, you have three choices for the 2024 GT-R: Premium, T-Spec, and NISMO®. All are powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.8L V6 engine paired with six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and standard AWD. The trunk has an 8.8 cu-ft capacity, and the small back seats are best seen as storage space. Apple CarPlay® is available, but there’s no Android Auto™ integration. Front and rear parking sensors and a rearview camera help you navigate tight spots.
1. Three distinct trim levels
You can pick your sweet spot of performance and comfort. The Premium trim includes an all-wheel drive, a carbon fiber driveshaft, magnesium shift paddles, leather and synthetic suede upholstery, and power-adjustable, heated front sport seats. The new-for-2024 T-spec is based on the Premium and adds a few available features from the NISMO, such as gold-finished alloy wheels, carbon ceramic brakes and aerodynamic improvements. The NISMO gets a standard appearance package featuring a carbon fiber hood with a clear-coat finish. The available front limited-slip differential adds to its road-holding capabilities.
You can choose the GT-R you want to drive with the three suspension settings: normal, comfort and R. Normal is firm but acceptable on a bumpy road. Comfort is just that – a softer ride with less emphasis on performance. R stiffens the suspension, engine, and transmission for race-track-level responsiveness. Turn the switch on the console to match your driving conditions.
Thanks to all the technology behind the scenes, you can grip the wheel of the GT-R with confidence. Computers control the suspension, engine, and transmission so you can rocket from zero to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds. You can still get thrills pushing the car’s limits, however. Some of the secret sauce is the advanced AWD system that sends power where it’s needed. At launch, 98% of the power is sent to the front wheels, and then, in a split second, it is redistributed front and rear as needed based on conditions.
For 2024, all versions of the GT-R underwent exterior updates in front and rear to improve aerodynamics. Don’t worry – the GT-R retains its pugnacious style. Inside, the dashboard features a horizontal-flow design wrapped in standard Nappa leather appointments. The T-spec has exclusive dark Mori Green upholstery throughout, with semi-aniline leather and suede treatments for the lightweight front seats. The T-spec also has two exclusive paint color options: Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple. The NISMO is available in exclusive color, Stealth Gray.
While most people who buy a GT-R aren’t concerned about the mileage in their sports car, you may be wondering, how’s the fuel economy? The GT-R has an EPA-estimated 18 mpg combined (16 city/22 highway), which may allow you to bypass gas stations on your exhilarating drive.
