1. Excellent four-cylinder powertrains 

The 2016 Volvo S60 has many powertrain options, but the most balanced of the group are the two 2.0L four-cylinder units. These commuter-friendly engines offer satisfying performance, starting with the T6 Drive-e trims engine that delivers 240 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup results in peppy response and an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined in all but the Inscription model.

2. Available driver-assist features 

The 2016 Volvo S60 keeps commuter confidence in mind with a long list of available driver-assist features. If you opt for the Technology Package, the S60 will treat you to automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, automatic high-beam headlights, and lane-departure warning. You can also find available blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and front and rear cameras. 

3. Great handling 

The 2016 Volvo S60 is a comfortable luxury car with a secret hiding under its skin. It also has a chassis the automaker tuned for excellent handling in all trims — particularly the R-Design — the S60 delivers precise handling and a well-weighted steering system that delivers great feedback. As we said, the S60 is still a luxury car, though, and it’ll also impress you with its excellent absorption of bumps and noise, even on rough roads.  

4. Superb front seats 

The 2016 Volvo S60’s front seats are the stars of the interior. They carefully blend great grip through bolstering and comfort with soft and supportive padding. This combination delivers plenty of comfort on short and long hauls and keeps you from sliding when tackling a curvy back road. These seats also offer 41.9 inches of legroom and 38.3 inches of headroom, so even if you’re tall, you’ll fit comfortably.
