5 reasons to buy the 2017 Volvo S60

1. Potent turbo power

The 2017 model year brought about a trimming of the S60’s available engines from four to just two. Despite powertrain trimming, the S60’s engines remain top-notch. The base turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder in the T5 model with 240 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels or all four wheels with optional all-wheel drive via an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup results in a six-second sprint to 60 mph and a respectable EPA-estimated 29 mpg combined in all but the Inscription and all-wheel-drive models.

Moving into the T6 models, the 2.0L gets a turbocharger and a supercharger that bumps its output to 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. It also gets standard all-wheel drive. This leads to a 5.5-second zero-to-60 mph time and an EPA-estimated 26 mpg combined.

2. Plenty of optional driver-assist features

The 2017 Volvo S60 has your commute top of mind with a focus on making it as easy as possible through its optional driver-assist features. Select a model with the Technology Package, and you’ll have the added convenience of automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, automatic high-beam headlights, and lane-departure warning. You can also find the optional rearview camera and blind-spot monitoring as part of the Vision Package.

3. Good handling and comfort

The 2017 Volvo S60 is a great blend of sport and comfort, giving you a nice balance for your daily commute. Volvo tuned the chassis to deliver good handling on sweeping back roads, and its steering is well-weighted and delivers plenty of feedback. The S60 retains its luxury status too, offering a compliant suspension that absorbs bumps and noise with the best of them. So, no matter what your driving conditions are, the S60 pleases.

4. Excellent front seats

The 2017 Volvo S60’s interior is all about comfort and luxury, but the show's stars are the front seats. These thrones feature ample bolstering that keeps you in place during spirited driving but doesn’t feel overly restricting. Combine this with soft and supportive padding, and these seats deliver all you need for any trip, whether it’s a Sunday drive through the country or your daily commute to the office. These seats also offer 41.9 inches of legroom and 38.6 inches of headroom, so you’ll fit nicely, even if you're tall.

5. Plenty of features and luxury inside

The 2017 Volvo S60’s interior aligns well with what you’d expect from an entry-level luxury sedan, with its high-end leather, vinyl, and plastics. You’ll also find Volvo’s use of wood and metal trim adds uniqueness to the cabin. The 2017 S60 doesn’t skimp on features either, as it includes Bluetooth® connectivity with audio streaming, HD Radio®, a USB port, leather upholstery, a moonroof, an eight-speaker CD and MP3 audio system with auxiliary input, the Volvo Sensus infotainment system with a seven-inch touchscreen, and more. If you’re a true audiophile, you may want to check out the R-Design trim and its standard premium Harman Kardon audio system.
