2007-2016 Audi A4 (fourth generation)
The fourth generation of the Audi A4 was entirely new. As time went on, this generation received several facelifts, including 40 changes and new elements in the 2012 re-release alone.
For the 2012-2016 A4, the hood became more arched and its exterior features more angular. The interior was refined, with inlays featuring glossy materials and chrome accents. Audi also upgraded the suspension and added a new engine option.
In 2012, Audi added LED daytime running lights and introduced the L trim, with a wheelbase that was 2.4 inches longer than the standard model. The 2012-2026 A4 also offered a choice of four engine options, ranging between 160 hp and 272 hp.
2016-present Audi A4 (fifth generation)
Audi released a lighter-but-larger version of the A4 for its fifth generation, which was aerodynamically enhanced to reduce drag. The 2016 Audi A4 also featured a single-frame grille and headlights reminiscent of those on the Audi A6. The Audi Virtual Cockpit instrument panel was introduced between 2016 and 2018, and the vehicle could be connected to the internet via the LTE network.
While there were no other major exterior changes, the front fascia was made to look a little more aggressive on the 2019 model. The luxurious interior was tweaked to appear sportier, and the manual transmission was discontinued.
In 2020, the exterior was refreshed once more and the infotainment system updated, while 2021 gained more standard features for the A4, as well as higher hp for both engine options.
