2019 Audi S5 luxury adds entry-level Premium trim to coupe and hatchback models
Still fresh from a redesign in 2018, the 2019 Audi S5 coupe, convertible, and four-door hatchback still received some notable updates. To start, an entry-level Premium trim has been added to the coupe and hatchback (Sportback) and is positioned below the pricier Premium Plus and Prestige trims. Wireless smartphone charging is also newly optional.
All versions of the S5 feature a 349-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that powers all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration is quick and grip is abundant, though the S5 is most notable for its high degree of comfort and refinement. This theme extends to the elegant interior, where you’ll find niceties like standard leather seating surfaces, a seven-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, heated front seats, and tri-zone climate control. There is no shortage of enticing options, however. The Premium Plus and Prestige trims include features like a head-up instrument display, adaptive cruise control, a larger (8.3-inch) infotainment screen, surround-view parking camera, hands-free trunklid, and 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo.

What We Like
All-weather grip: Standard all-wheel drive gives this performance luxury car lots of grip and stability in inclement weather, or when simply pushing its limits on tight and twisty roads.
Cabin style and comfort: Audi spared no expense when it came time to crafting a quality cabin for the S5. The materials used throughout the interior are top-notch and a nice reminder that your hard-earned money was spent on a premium product.
Turbo V6 performance: The 349-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 and eight-speed automatic get the S5 up to speed quickly and efficiently. And in terms of fuel economy, this potent engine returns a reasonable EPA-estimated 30 mpg during highway cruising (29 mpg in the convertible).
What Needs Improvement
Limited rear legroom and trunk space on coupe and convertible: Choose either the coupe or convertible and know you’ll want to pack light, not to mention limit the time adults spend in the second row. The Sportback sedan is just as much fun to drive, and it's the more practical pick if you need extra space.
