5 reasons to buy the 2019 Ford Mustang

1. Built for speed

The low, sleek, muscular profile of the 2019 Ford Mustang reflects the power under its sculpted hood. The body features a low, wide stance, an elongated hood, a steeply sloped windshield and roofline to help it slip through the air, and an independent rear suspension that is designed to help minimize body rolls around curves. It features as standard a 2.3L engine that produces 310 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque, while the available 5L V8 engine produces 460 horsepower with 420 lb.-ft. of torque in the GT, GT Premium, and BULLITT trims. This is a car that will turn heads as you zoom past on the highway.

2. Race ready

It's practically begging for burnouts. The 2019 Ford Mustang comes standard with electronic line-lock that lets you lock the front brakes and spin the rear wheels to get some heat in the tires. It also features Launch Control (standard on vehicles with manual transmission) that helps you accelerate out of the gate from a standstill by allowing you to set the RPM, drop the clutch, floor it, and let the ponies fly. Despite all this race-ready tech, it's also a supremely easy car to drive and enjoy.

3. Track toys

There will be no debates about your fastest lap times using the TrackApps Lap Time feature equipped on the 2019 Ford Mustang as standard. The electronic log lets you record your time and average speed at three separate tracks and store up to 100 25-lap sessions in Track Mode. Measure your racing prowess on 0–60 sprints and quarter-mile time trials with the Acceleration Timer. With the help of the classic "Christmas-tree" styled 3-2-1 countdown, you'll know when to go too.

4. Turbocharged engine

2019 Ford Mustang Review: Engine | CarMax

Muscle cars aren't known for their fuel economy, but the 2019 Ford Mustang is the exception. Thanks to itsengine technology, the 2.3L turbocharged engine in the EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium models will help you get the most from your fuel. These two trims with the 2.3L engine are EPA-estimated to achieve up to 31 mpg on the highway as a fastback and 28 mpg on the highway as a convertible when paired to the six-speed manual transmission.

Outfitted with a 10-speed automatic transmission and the 2.3L engine, the fuel economy of the 2019 Ford Mustang increases up to an EPA-estimated 32 mpg highway in the coupe and 28 mpg in the convertible.

5. Brains and brawns

The 2019 Ford Mustang is standard equipped with Ford's SYNC® voice-operated system that lets you control in-vehicle functions with the push of a button using natural language commands. The optional SYNC 3 brings a wide range of technology integration, such as Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto, and even lets you bring Amazon's Alexa into the car to make the transition between time at home and the time in your car seem seamless. This means that the 2019 Ford Mustang isn't just fun to take to the track but it'll keep you engaged on your commute and on longer journeys too.

Interior details

The 2019 Ford Mustang sports a classic 2+2 seating configuration and is outfitted with deep bucket seats in the front and rear row. With up to 45.1 inches of legroom, tall drivers should fit comfortably behind the wheel. The coupe's sloping fastback roofline may make the second-row headroom a tight fit for some passengers, but the sky's the limit if you opt for the electronic drop-top convertible.

To pay homage to its namesake, the standard push-button start button pulses 30 glowing red beats per minute—the same as a Mustang horse's resting heart rate. Also, although few people shop muscle cars for their cargo-carrying capability, you'll find 13.5 cubic feet of storage capacity in the coupe's trunk (11.4 cubic feet in the convertible), which should be enough room to hold two sets of golf clubs. The rear seats fold flat to accommodate longer items.
