The Honda Ridgeline did not change significantly for the 2022 model year, but it retained what has worked since this truck debuted in 2006: An effective mix of comfort and utility. The Ridgeline is not the most powerful truck in the midsize class, nor is it the most rugged, but its unibody construction (which makes it more like an SUV than a traditional truck) makes it the most comfortable. Its pleasant ride quality combines with terrific in-vehicle storage and a 40-inch wide, 5-foot bed, adding up to a truck that we enjoy spending time in.
That said, if you’re planning on going offroad, the Ridgeline lacks the available low-range gearing and the underbody clearance of a typical truck. Also, its towing capacity doesn't measure up to class rivals like the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado. If you're willing to overlook what many expect as truck standards, you'll get creature comforts like a locking in-bed storage trunk and a roomy cabin.
Ride Quality: The 2022 Honda Ridgeline may not look like a typical truck—but it also doesn’t ride like a typical truck. Its SUV-like construction allows for a ride so smooth on most surfaces that it borders on graceful, something we thought out of reach in a pickup truck.
Storage: You will not want for places to stow your stuff. The truck bed features an in-bed trunk, perfect for storing a cooler or other items you'd rather not bring into the back-seat area. Inside the cabin, there are clever storage spaces scattered throughout the seating area.
Comfort: The cabin is roomy and pleasant, as are the seats; all the better to enjoy the unconventionally smooth ride. The Ridgeline’s best-in-class ride comfort gets a boost by the bottom and side padding on the front seats, making for a vehicle that's well-equipped for long road trips.
Truck stuff: Do you need a capable tow vehicle? Are you hauling a large fifth wheel to the lake multiple times a year? Do you need (or at least, really want) 4x4 instead of all-wheel drive? Then this isn't the truck for you. While the Ridgeline has what most truck drivers need on a daily basis, it doesn't do everything some drivers want.
