It’s not often that the base trim level will seem like a great deal and hit most hot-button option priorities. Yet the 2021 S model Range Rover Velar comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine(247 hp, 269 lb-ft of torque) or a 3.0-liter turbocharged mild hybrid inline-six (335 hp 354 lb-ft) if you want more power.
Whatever engine you choose when you purchase this SUV, it’s loaded with standard features like a power tailgate, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ capabilities, and 11-speaker Meridian premium audio. You also get the luxurious cabin with leather seating, front and rear parking sensors, and driver assist options like blind spot intervention and forward collision mitigation. The other trim options are feature-rich too, but the S stands for a “Sweet” deal for the 2021 model year.
The Pivi Pro system replaces the previous Duo system with a dual 10-inch screen experience, but it is faster and more responsive than its predecessor. The Pivi Pro is the same infotainment system found on other Land Rover models. It offers a new, more intuitive experience for adjusting the temperature controls, sound system, and other features.
The 2021 Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic and Auric Edition models feature several new sleek body styling accents. Advanced aerodynamic features include adjustments to the rear spoiler and flush door handles. While the flowing exterior sculpting is sleek enough to turn heads on any city street or whatever off-road trails you decide to tackle.
There are several standard driver assist features in the base model 2021 Range Rover Velar including blind spot intervention and forward collision mitigation. Emergency braking, cruise control, and a speed limiter will help keep you on the straight and narrow. If you appear drowsy, the Velar will give you a warning for when it’s time to stop at a rest stop to recharge your batteries. There are now three optional driver assistance option packages available for parking, blind spot monitoring, and driving.
The 2021 Range Rover Velar’s exterior lighting is all LED as standard. Optional Matrix LED headlights adapt to your surroundings allowing you to light up the night without dazzling oncoming vehicles by refracting the light into vertical strips. Another option is for laser high-beam headlights, which deliver clear sight for 500 meters at speeds over 50 mph when no other lights are detected. Night driving will never be the same in your Velar.
There are many standard features to keep you in total control of the 2021 Range Rover Velar, whether you are on the highway, tackling a twisty mountain road, or hitting off-road trails. Dynamic stability control intervenes by reducing torque and strategically applying brakes to correct the vehicle’s direction of travel as needed. Electronic traction control manages wheel spin, reduces torque, and applies the brakes as needed. You seem like a great driver by the way you are navigating with your mouse, but electronic driver assistance can be very useful in unfamiliar terrain.
