2022 Audi A5 spoils you for choice with coupe, convertible, and hatchback models.

The 2022 Audi A5 is offered in no less than three varieties. These include a sophisticated coupe, a sun-loving convertible (Cabriolet), and a four-door hatchback Audi calls the Sportback. All are offered in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The cargo-friendly A5 Sportback is eminently practical with its 21.8-cubic-foot trunk, while the sleek coupe and convertible are automotive indulgences with snug rear seats and smaller cargo holds.

Both the A5 coupe and convertible come standard with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The base-model Sportback has a lower-output version, but the more powerful engine is an optional upgrade. A seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is fitted to every A5, no matter the body style or what’s under the hood. Refinement is a key attribute of the A5. The cabin has a premium look and feel that makes this Audi stand out among luxury rivals like the BMW 4 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

5 reasons to buy the 2022 Audi A5

What We Like

Performance: The turbo four-cylinders are smooth and provide plenty of performance and also return reasonable fuel economy estimates. If you want even more tire-smoking excitement, there are the S5 and RS 5 models (which we review separately).

Cabin design: It’s no secret that Audi crafts some of the most well-engineered and elegant interiors in the luxury car market. This holds true in all three versions of the A5, all of which are filled with high-quality materials everywhere you look and touch.

Variety: Need a more usable rear seat and spacious trunk? There’s the A5 Sportback. Want to stand out from the crowd with something a little sleeker? There’s the A5 coupe. And, of course, you can enjoy this Audi’s smooth ride and crisp handling while working on your tan in the open-top A5 Cabriolet.

What Needs Improvement

Driver-assist features: The A5 has a meager lineup of standard driver-assist features that cuts across all three versions. Driver aids like blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and lane keeping assistance are all extra cost options.
