Genesis redesigned the G80 for 2021, creating an all-new version of its midsize luxury sedan while keeping the sleek exterior shape, premium interior materials, and refined drivetrains. For 2021 there's two new trim levels, the 2.5T with a 300-horsepower four-cylinder engine and the 3.5T with a 375-horsepower V6. Both feature an eight-speed automatic driving the rear wheels, with all-wheel drive available on either version. As always, the G80 comes with a long list of standard and available luxury features. Genesis has upped its technology pedigree with the new G80, giving the 2.5T base model LED exterior lighting, a 12-speaker audio system, and a 14.2-inch touchscreen as standard equipment. The 3.5T feeds in additional features, including a sunroof, wireless charging, and a 21-speaker Lexicon audio system.
The G80 continues to offer excellent luxury bang for relatively few bucks. It doesn't possess quite the same level of suspension-tuning sophistication as its German counterparts, but this is a subtle difference many buyers won't notice. In terms of pure value, the G80 can't be beat.
Design: The updated exterior design gives the G80 a distinctive look, while the all-new interior matches high-quality materials to an advanced digital gauge cluster and large touchscreen. This combination makes a striking and powerful statement, establishing the latest G80 as a genuine luxury player and worthy alternative to German and Japanese counterparts with much longer histories.
Value: The standard equipment list on the base Genesis G80 2.5T reads like a well-equipped mid-to-upper-grade competitor from Europe. Heated seats, a 14.5-inch touchscreen, synthetic leather, and a 12-speaker audio system make even the "cheapest" G80 feel rich with luxury versus the competition's base models.
Technology: If the large touchscreen isn't enough to impress, how about the list of advanced driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assistance, driver attention warning, and active lane keeping assistance? These are all standard features, with three-zone climate control, soft-close doors, remote automatic parking, and a 21-speaker Lexicon audio system available for buyers seeking maximum coddling.
Fuel efficiency: The V6 engine with all-wheel drive earns an EPA-estimated 21 combined mpg,
