The 2021 Genesis G90 adds a new suspension setting to make rear passenger comfort even better than before. It can also receive software updates over the air, bringing it up to speed with some of its luxury rivals like Mercedes-Benz and BMW. But the G90 remains largely unchanged since the South Korean manufacturer unveiled it in 2017: a value-conscious luxury sedan that can compete with the elite in most, if not all, categories.
Its interior and tech features are as good if not better than in the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series. There's plenty of room for all your passengers' heads, arms, feet, and legs no matter where they're sitting. The touchscreen is easy to use and most controls can be accessed with knobs or switches. The G90 also comes equipped with many standard driver aids like adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are also standard features. If there's a flaw, it's that the G90 doesn't offer the spirited driving experience you'll find in its German rivals.
Value: You get a lot for your money with a G90, whether you opt for the 3.3T Premium trim or the 5.0 Ultimate. Both come stacked with many driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and forward collision warning. The build quality is also fantastic, with premium leather and open-pore wood found throughout the cabin.
Interior: The G90 offers a spacious interior with plenty of room for all passengers to stretch out. The driver's seat provides excellent visibility and is highly adjustable, including for side and rear cushions. Rear passenger comfort also stands out, particularly on the 5.0 Ultimate trim. It adds ventilated rear seats that recline and offer lumbar support.
Tech: Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard and can be paired with a premium 17-speaker stereo system. The 12.3-inch touchscreen is easy to use and can also be controlled with physical knobs and buttons.
Fuel economy: Both the V6 and V8-powered G90s offer worse fuel economy than the competition. The V6-powered all-wheel drive G90 gets an EPA-estimated 20 mpg combined, while the Mercedes-Benz S550 4matic gets 24 mpg combined, and the BMW 740i xDrive gets 23 mpg combined.
