The 2020 Genesis G90 receives a significant makeover that includes new looks for the front and rear exterior and interior upgrades that include a new 12.3-inch touchscreen and higher-quality materials. The G90 remains a value-conscious luxury sedan that approaches the high quality of rivals like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi while coming in at a much lower price.
Both available trims are fully loaded. The 3.3T Premium offers a V6 and many standard driving aids, including blind-spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping assistance. The G90 5.0 Ultimate trim provides a bunch of upgrades for passengers sitting in the back seat. That includes power-adjustable and ventilated rear seats to complement a rear entertainment system.
The G90 doesn't do quite as well on fuel as its rivals, and it's still not as luxurious as vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series. But it's pretty darn close and it offers tons of features, including Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, at a reasonable price.
Interior: The G90 offers a vast, roomy interior with plenty of head- and legroom for all passengers. Visibility is excellent from the driver's seat, which is also quite comfortable and adjusts 22 ways. Upgrading to the 5.0 Ultimate trim also makes the back seat a luxurious hangout spot, adding power-adjustable seating and a rear entertainment system.
Tech: New for 2020 is a 12.3-inch touchscreen that makes using smartphone integration, like Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, a snap. Many driver aids come standard and can be controlled with physical buttons, making it easy to turn them on and off. And the 17-speaker audio system is solid if not spectacular.
Value: The G90's interior gets a light makeover for 2020, with new open-pore wood trim and upgraded buttons and knobs throughout the cabin. That makes the G90 an even more compelling value proposition, as you get so much luxury for such a reasonable price.
Fuel economy: The top-level 5.0 Ultimate trim with the V8 gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg combined. You only pick up 1 mile per gallon by opting for the V6. Compare that to competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S550 (22 mpg combined) or BMW 740i xDrive (24 mpg combined) and the G90 starts to look a bit thirsty.
