The 2018 Genesis G90 largely follows in its predecessor's footsteps. The G90 debuted in 2017 and announced itself as a value-conscious luxury sedan, something largely unheard of before Genesis unveiled the vehicle. The 2018 receives a few updates, including adaptive LED headlights and a backseat entertainment system for the 5.0 Ultimate trim.
Otherwise, the G90 remains mostly unchanged. Both the 3.3T Premium trim and 5.0 Ultimate trim come fully loaded with driver aids like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic warning. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard features, and the interior is spacious and comfortable.
But the G90 isn't without faults. The interior isn't quite as premium as cabins of rival vehicles made by Mercedes-Benz or BMW, and the driving experience is not very engaging. Its fuel economy is also rather poor. Still, there isn't a luxury sedan that offers so many features for the money as the G90.
Comfort: Genesis leaned in on comfort, delivering a sedan with terrific ride quality. That carries over to seat comfort, which is excellent. The driver's seat can be adjusted 22 ways, while the passenger's seat can be adjusted 14 ways; both are ventilated and heated.
Interior: This is a seriously roomy interior. It's easy to get in and out of the G90, and once you're inside there is lots of head- and legroom for all passengers. The rear seat improves further on the 5.0 Ultimate package by adding ventilated seats and an entertainment system.
Value: The list of standard features on the G90 is seemingly endless. Having so many driver aids standard on a luxury car is unheard of, and a car with comparable features from Mercedes-Benz or BMW would cost far more than the Genesis. You get a lot for your money with the G90.
Fuel economy: Both the V8- and V6-equipped versions of the G90 get relatively poor fuel economy. The V8 gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg combined, 1 mile worse than when the V6 is attached. That's worse than competitors like the Mercedes-Benz S550 (22 mpg combined) and BMW 740i xDrive (24 mpg combined).
