There are plenty of reasons to like the 2022 Honda Odyssey, and not many weaknesses to be found. Sadly, for 2022, the Odyssey loses a signature feature: The available built-in vacuum cleaner is gone. Now you’ll have to settle for a hand vac, like any other minivan owner. But the interior is still comfortable, flexible, and practical, and even without the vacuum there are a ton of available tech and comfort features in higher trim levels. Add in the configurable second-row seats and standard driver aids, and the Odyssey remains a top pick for a family vehicle, even if there will be a few more crumbs around.
There are a few things the Odyssey doesn’t offer: All-wheel drive is unavailable, and there’s no hybrid option, both of which you can find on the 2022 Toyota Sienna. Also, the third row is manual-folding only, and you’ll need to remove the second row sets to get max cargo capacity. The Chrysler Pacifica offers a bit less flexibility in terms of seating positions, but more cargo flexibility with an available power-folding third row and second-row seats that fold flat into the floor.
Includes a multi-angle rearview camera, automatic climate control, programmable power door locks, an eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, a four-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and more.
Adds blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, power sliding doors, tri-zone climate control, programmable power door and tailgate locks, a 12-way power-adjustable driver seat, and more.
Adds acoustic windshield glass, a one-touch power moonroof with tilt feature, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather-trimmed seats, an eight-way power-adjustable passenger seat, and more.
Adds front and rear parking sensors, blue ambient LED lighting, body-colored side sills, integrated sunshades in the second and third rows, an in-car PA system, and more.
Adds heated and ventilated seats, an 11-speaker premium audio system, multi-zone audio, a wireless phone charger, acoustic glass on the front and rear doors, and more.
Practical interior: The interior offers lots of storage cubbies, pockets, and cup holders, so there’s plenty of storage around. But the most noteworthy feature is the configurable second row, with its sliding seats that can each be moved forward, backward, and side-to-side. You can keep kids in closer reach, or separate them a bit, and get easier access to the third row.
Lots of tech: Advanced driver aids are standard on all 2022 Odyssey trims, and as you move up through the trim levels you’ll find tons of additional features. These include a camera system to check in on rear passengers, a rear-seat entertainment system with a Blu-Ray™ player, USB ports for the second and third rows, lots of phone connectivity options like Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and in-car Wi-Fi.
Good to drive: The Odyssey is one of the best minivans to drive. The V6 engine is smooth and strong, and is paired with quick, precise steering and top-notch handling for a minivan. This isn’t a sports car, but it’s surprisingly enjoyable from behind the wheel without sacrificing comfort.
Max-cargo flexibility: While the Honda offers impressive maximum cargo capacity, it’s less convenient to access than some competitors. Power-folding third row seats aren’t an option, and the second row seats need to be removed from the vehicle to create a flat load floor.
